About Me

Me at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 Premier
Why hello there. *waves*

So you are wondering who I am, and rightly so. My real name is not Tommeh Bell. That is simply the nom de plume that I am going by.

I happen to be a young black nerd. I say nerd proudly for I can name all the books in the Chronicles of Narnia. Duh, there is more than 3 books for all you non-nerds who didn't know that.

Nerd is not a title to be ashamed of. I fully embrace it and love everything that it entails for I am nerd, and you will hear me roar.

I am a young 34. Bet you couldn't tell my age if you saw me. I just recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I got my B.A. in International and Global studies with a minor in political science. Yeah I know. Its so far off from writing I couldn't find Narnia with a map.

Right now as I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up for I am in the grips of a horrible Peter Pan complex. I don't want to grow up. Well I don't want to be the sort of grown up that gets up at 5 a.m to get dress, drive an hour to a job I hate to punch a clock that is killing all for the sake of making a mortgage payment on a house I didn't want to buy but I did because its in a good school district.

So I am putting off growing up as long as I possible can. Or until I met the Doctor and he asks me to travel with him.

I am in the process of applying to Masters programs around the world. I want to get a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. If you love something you should take the time to prefect it. Practice makes perfect after all. At lest thats what my middle school music teacher told me.

I really want to go to Manchester Metropolitan University. I studied abroad there as a undergrad and I just fell in love with the city and the country. I mean I could end up walking the streets of London on a mini holiday and retrace the steps of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as I pen the next great fantasy series.

Very exciting if I do say so myself.

And update. I am finishing up my first year in a creative writing masters at Manchester Metropolitan University. I believe I have settled on a YA plot that I think will titillate the masses if I do say so myself. Or that is the hope anyways.

I've always been a writer. Started when I was a kid after I learned to read. I started out as a poet and even had some of my poems published. Pretty neat for a kid that got bullied. Seriously, it does get better. *steps off soapbox*

This blog for me is just the culmination of the things that really define me. Writing and books. Nothing is grander than the written word. Its the thing that separates us from the animals. I mean animals can think, they can love, they can procreate. But they can't sit down at a desk underneath a picture window and give the world Harry Potter or Moby Dick or Harry Dresden.

I love fantasy. I will read other things if it strikes my fancy like the Women's Murder Club by James Patterson, but my library is mostly stocked with fantasy books of all shapes and sizes.

I hope from my posts you gleam my passion and my love for the written word and the storytellers, and I hope you have yourself a good ole time.

Come back ya hear!
